I turning, visible as /moonlight/ botanical, not as supple voice, 2018
Soundtrack, sculptural installation and a reading group
soft/WALL/studs, Singapore

The exhibition I turning, visible as /moonlight/ botanical, not as supple voice enfolds around the interactions between writing, choreography and the notion of cultivation. This reformulated iteration of the work We are looking at this scene and our view suddenly starts to slide, is staged in the communal area of soft/WALL/studs (artist-run space in Singapore) as well as the rooftop/storage area. Reflecting on the proto-feminist nature of the Ancient Athenian rite Adonia, the exhibition questions the potential of empathy to propagate abstracted experiences.

Why not keep company to a shriveled garden, or to gather around a fragrance that lingers through the room? Multiple proposals inhabit the space of SWS, temporarily resting it’s ground amongst the traces of all the past events that affected the location and it’s visitors. The soundtrack was created as a collaboration with a duo L/HT/T/TT, who also used to organize Horizon99 parties at SWS amongst other locations.

Following the exhibition a Rehearsal for a Reading Group explored reading as a communal and bodily activity, focusing on texts around empathy, eroticism and the feminine.
